Purpose of the Club
We exist to help members gain experience with public speaking. It doesn’t matter whether public speaking is something completely new to you (and terrifying!) or you may have some speaking experience – the Club is suitable for everyone.
New to Public Speaking?
Perhaps you have changed jobs and need to give presentations as part of your work. It may be that you have become President of your local golf club and need to speak in public at social occasions.
Falkirk Speakers Club offers a friendly and supportive environment in which you can gain the necessary skills and experience to speak in public. You are able to go at your own pace with no pressure. Everyone has the opportunity to practise speaking and receive valuable and constructive feedback from experienced members of the Club.
Experienced at Public Speaking?
Falkirk Speakers Club gives you the opportunity to stretch yourself that little bit and become more accomplished at speaking in public.
The Club has an annual Speakers competition with the winner being awarded the Club trophy.
There are also opportunities to visit other local Speakers Clubs. We find that visiting other Clubs gives members the opportunity to practise their public speaking within a different environment and also meet with fellow members to share ideas.
The Club participates in an annual debate with Denny Speakers Club. This year’s event was held in Falkirk Town Hall and formed part of the Tryst Festival.
A Typical Evening at Falkirk Speakers Club
Each week different members of the Club have the opportunity to perform ‘roles’ for the evening eg Chairperson. This helps members to gain other skills, eg introducing speakers to the audience.
