2006 was an exceptionally busy year since it was the 25th anniversary of the founding of the club. As a result we wanted to put on an exhibition to be proud of and from all reports we succeeded. As well as our own exhibition we operated two layouts at the national exhibition in Glasgow and at exhibitions in Elgin, Helensburgh, Glenrothes, Dumfries, Perth, and Bonnybridge. In a new venture we took part in the Central F.M. Radio Road Show at “Sterling Mills”.
The club has an impressive array of layouts: two Continental “N” gauge layouts “Kalana” and “Altstetten”; a “TT” Continental layout “Smeirwieda”; a large “OO” “Invercarron”; and a “Thomas-the-Tank” . One of our members has a Gauge 1 layout, one of the very few in Scotland and operates it with our help at exhibitions.
We are now very comfortably settled in our new clubrooms in Unit 5 of Redding Industrial Estate. Because of the extra space we have also had a busy year on the construction front. “Kalana” and “Invercarron” were extended. A British “N” gauge layout “Carron Grove” is under construction and due to be unveiled at our own exhibition in November 2007. Also under construction is a new Continental “N” gauge “Fleckenkirk.”
As you can see there is plenty of work to be done and if you are interested come along to our clubrooms any Monday or Tuesday evening. You can be assured of a warm welcome and maybe, a free cup of tea or coffee along with a choccy biccy!!!
